That's my house!

Today I get wind that Google have finished taking pictures of my town for Google Maps Streetview, so I excitedly tipity-tap my address on my laptop. I don't really know why I'm so excited, I see my house everyday, but there's something about it being on the www...
Anyway I type in my address, click on the little tab and a picture of my house comes up.
My eyes scan the photo......hmmm my house looks good, garden fairly tidy, car looks clean(the hub will be pleased), number plate blurred out..................oh no wait.........wheelie bins.
Google have only gone and taken the photo on blimmin' BIN DAY! Typical......

P-P-P-Pick up a penguin

If you live in the UK, like I indeed do, you surely must be aware of penguin chocolate bars.

I must say I'm partial to a penguin bar(well any chocolate bars really!) and the beauty of these bars, apart from featuring my favourite animal on the front, is that they have jokes on the back. They are a little bit on the lame side but great fun nonetheless BUT the same jokes have been on them for yonks! And that is disappointing....

So, the other day I bought a multipack of Penguin bars and as I opened it to get one out, the packaging looked slightly different...I gasped....could it be? I called out to my hubby Rob, 'I think the penguin bars have got new jokes!'

We hurriedly ripped open the packet and YES, it was true! New jokes, so we stood in the kitchen reading out jokes to each other.

My favourite.........What's a penguins favourite footwear??

Flipper-Floppers!!

Hee hee I really did LOL to that one and probably guffawed too.....

Did that make you smile? Just a little? C'mon admit it......it did!

Potter Paint

I moved into my house in Sept 09, and we have just started to think about redecorating our living room. Having a degree in Interior Design (ahem) I love design and everything that comes with it, the colours, the look, the objects, the furniture, the bits n bobs that just make a room...it makes my heart beat that little bit faster and when I get an idea I'm like a squealing, giggling school girl on helium, yes I do get THAT excited!

Anyhoo, the look I was going for was a folk-inspired-eclectic-mash-up and the colour I wanted for one wall was green. A deep, rich green, a British racing type green. We tested a few paints and couldn't really find the right one and it was starting to get a little frustrating!

Totally unrelated but gets related in a minute (stay with me) I have the most beautiful Harry Potter books, I am a self confessed HP geek. They are special editions from the bookshop Waterstones, clothbacked in different colours, gilt embellished covers, gilt edged pages and just b-e-a-utiful! I only have books 1-5 at the moment and they are stacked at the top of my stairs while the living rooms in a mess.

Now every day I pass my beautiful books, admire them and think now, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the type of green I want for the living room and then suddenly it HIT me!

My local DIY store has a Dulux paint mixing machine....they can colour match colours....they can match a colour to my marvellous book...they can scan my book and get me the perfect colour....the perfect colour for my room.....HURRAH!

So off I trundled with kids and book in tow and asked the assistant to colour-match my book. He set about doing whatever they need to do whilst holding my book (I'm ashamed to admit, I was checking his hands were clean!) and then voila! my tester pot was ready and my 4 year old whispered to me 'Mummy, is he going to give you your book back?'

So the paint was tested and it came out perfect...it is 'the one' and I shall call it Azkaban.

Band Meeting

So I'm a big fan of Flight of the Conchords 'New Zealand's 4th Most Popular Folk Parody Duo'. www.flightoftheconchords.co.nz
Incase you've never heard of these musical geniuses before, I'll fill you in.....

Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement make up this comedy duo who started out as a musical stand-up act but who now have their own series on HBO. The series sees them living in New York trying to break America, but with their one, slightly obsessed fan, Mel, things aren't exactly working out for them. They have band meetings with their hilarious band manager Murray who holds the meetings in his office at the New Zealand Consulate (his proper job) They regularly break into song and some of their hits include Hiphopopotomus Vs Rhymenoceros, Mutha'uckas and I Told You I Was Freaky. It is quite possibly one of the funniest things on TV.
Anyway, I'm drifting away from the point of this post, I found out via links on facebook that the Flight of the Conchords are TOURING!!! I was so excited to see they would be in London for 2 dates in May. The tickets went on a pre-sale this morning and although it was stressful(they give you a time limit on ticketmaster!) and although I was stood in front of my laptop in my pyjamas 10 mins before I was meant to drop my 4 year old off to pre-school, I've got them...tickets to see them at the London Hammersmith Apollo.
Proud? Me? Yes...proud as punch!
And were we late to pre-school? No, but I must have looked a complete mess!
